Feb 2021 Book Haul

Of three things I am certain: (1) I don’t know where else to stack my books, (2) my shelves are sure to collapse eventually, and (3) I will not stop. Here are the five books I added to my home library this month:

The Song of Achilles
by Madeline Miller

I finished this book on Valentine’s Day — yes, so fitting I know, my heart is still in pieces. This is probably the best book I’ve read in my entire life. I am grateful that books like this exists.

An amazing retelling of the Trojan War and the beautiful love story between Achilles and Patroclus. I will undoubtedly be reading this novel again.

These Violent Delights
by Chloe Gong

Another retelling of a classic… who am I? This one is Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, but make it 1926 in Shanghai. These Violent Delights seems to have it all — historical elements, action, fantasy, undying love — and I can’t wait to crack it open.

The Bad Muslim Discount
by Syed M Masood

You know, I added this to my BOTM because of that beautiful cover. But the premise is just as colorful — The Bad Muslim Discount is a novel about Muslim immigrants living in modern America and follows two families, one from Pakistan and one from Iraq in the 1990s, to San Francisco in 2016.

EXCITED!

Honey Girl
by Morgan Rogers

Ahhh! I can’t believe I own this book! Honey Girl immediately caught my eye when I saw it on someone’s ‘Most Anticipated Releases of 2021’ list and I’m so excited to read it. I know it’s going to play out like a movie in my mind — a woman’s life plans go out the window when she meets her wife… yep, she got drunkenly married in Las Vegas and is just now meeting her actual wife. It sounds heartwarming and hysterical. Can’t wait!

Undercover Bromance
by Lyssa Kay Adams

Buying Undercover Bromance this month was a necessity, I promise. My family got me Crazy Stupid Bromance for Christmas, but didn’t realize it was part of a series and I hadn’t read book 2 yet. I made reading as many romances in February as possible a thing, and so now you see why I had to buy it.

I can’t get enough of the Bromance Book Club and if Lyssa Kay Adams wrote 10 more books for this series I would read them all.
